Honors

Nurses work hard for their communities, patients, and peers: often with little or no recognition. At DIstrict IV, we like to honor our nurses who go above and beyond what is expected of them on a daily basis.

A well deserved congratulations to Graciana Breaux, MSN, RN-BC, CLNC who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Acadiana Black Nurses Association at the organization's annual President's Gala.

Congratulations to Jared Aucion, MN, RNC-LRN, who was named as one of two winners of the quarterly American Nurses Association's (ANA) Immunity Award. Jared imprved his clinics' ability to accurately measure immunization rates through an information management system. ANA grants the national Immunity Award as part of its Bringing Immunity to Every Community project.

Congratulations to Jared Aucoin for his successful presentation and subsequent adoption of his resolution at the LSNA 2011 House of Delegates. The resolution can be viewed here.

Congratulations to Patricia LaBrosse for her election to serve as the Secretary for LSNA at the state level.

Carllene Macmillan, a District IV Member and Louisiana State Board of Nursing Board Member, has been appointed to the Commitment to Ongoing Regulatory Excellence Project (CORE) Committee for FY 2011. The Commitment to Ongoing Regulatory Excellence Project is a performance measurement system for nursing regulators. CORE utilizes data collected periodically from boards of nursing and stakeholders and helps improve organizational performance practices, capabilities, and results in the provision of regulatory services. The CORE Committee is a very important committee directed at examining best practices among member boards.

A very special congratulation to one of our members and also a Board Member, Dawn Huggins, for obtaining her Occupational Health Nursing certification. Dawn is one of the very few nurses in the district to hold this certification and it attests to her extensive knowledge and skill in occupational health nursing!
